Following the recently published New Gas Law, Brazil opens a new chapter in the natural gas Industry.
Import LNG projects are an immediate opportunity to directly access the grid, expanding, and in some cases creating, natural gas markets in different regions of Brazil, or feeding thermoelectric plants along the coastline.
Importing LNG requires chartering and operating sophisticated regasification units (FSRU) moored to special port berths, contracts for gas sales – GSA and for gas transport – GTA. Sponsors of such projects are typically gas & power companies that either intend to sell the molecule or supply gas to a gas-fired power plant that will generate and distribute power. Each aspect and contractual relationship is regulated by a different agency, such as ANTAQ, ANP and ANEEL.
During this webinar, we will hear from the Business Development Manager at a major FSRU provider on LNG opportunities and challenges in Brazil and discuss with a team of experts key legal aspects to consider on these kinds of projects, including:
Gas to shore: LNG Terminals
- Port facilities: existing infrastructure and regulation;
- Vessels (FRSU/FSU): Charter & OM Contracts;
- Importation, special customs regimes and taxation.
Gas to power X Gas to grid
- Powerplants firm-supply contracts;
- Processing Plants: Standards for gas processing services, third-party access and processing fees;
- Transportation: Overview of existing infrastructure, Legal Framework and transporters authorized technical capacity, idle capacity and how to ensure access to pipelines;
- Typical Project Finance Structures;
- Sources of Financing;
- Environmental Issues.
